The 5 new beauty items you NEED in 2021

Gosh, it’s been a long time since I’ve written a full on beauty blog post. But since I’ve recently treated myself to a few new bits (which nowadays I have to say is pretty rare), I thought I’d go old school and round up some of my favourites; (read: beauty items you need this new year).

Since really cutting back and curbing my spending massively to save for our house (which we finally moved into Sept 2019) I’ve completely culled my collection and been super ‘back to basics’ with what I’ve been using on my skin. I had makeup and skincare coming out of my ears before I took a break from blogging at the tail end of 2018 and so there wasn’t much need to buy more than the necessities every time I entered Boots…(sob). Add a global pandemic to the mix where the mantra ‘stay at home’ read more ‘don’t bother with makeup’ and honestly I’ve not had much need to splash out or treat myself to any new beauty.

However…

That doesn’t mean that I haven’t occasionally been sucked in by an Influencer on Instagram or browsing the after-Christmas-sales.

maura x inglot starstruck

Maura x Inglot Starstruck palette.

I do *not* need any more eyeshadow palettes. I have plenty and have 0 desire to stray from my go-to eye makeup looks (and that’s when I can even be bothered to spend that much time on my face) but watching Maura’s instagram stories a few weeks before Christmas I honestly got sucked in by the beauty of this limited edition palette and (having heard amazing reviews in regards to Inglot’s eyeshadows before) decided to take the plunge and treat myself. I instantly felt sick at spending £30 on an eyeshadow palette, which is ridiculous considering I used to flash my card left right and centre at palettes costing upwards of £50 without even blinking just a few years ago… But, as soon as it arrived I knew it was the right purchase to have made and in the few times that I’ve used it over Christmas (to glam up for pyjamas and 0% alcohol ciders on the sofa – hello pandemic), it has throughly earnt itself it’s place in my 5 beauty items you need for 2021… or just in your life to be honest.

The bronze goddess vibes I get from this palette are unreal. The selling point was when Maura showed herself buffing out the shade sandstone over her lids and glittering up with Zodiac on her Instagram stories and from that moment on I was SOLD. I am in love with the bronzey tones; it’s a look I often try to go for and this mix of matte browns and glitter bronze/golds is THE palette of dreams to be honest. The pigment is everything and with the powders being beautifully buttery, they blend amazingly and so far I’ve had barely any (if any) fall out when I’ve used them. Not to mention that this palette also comes with a bronzer and highlight/blush duo of face powders, it literally has everything you could want.

Thirty pounds for this palette is a great price and especially since the packaging is of such high quality in my opinion. There’s no mirror, which is a shame (but honestly who uses them really?) but the beauty of this palette is that the lid is magnetic which is just fancy and so super handy. It’s sleek, lightweight and easy to clean (which is a must for me). I’m putting it out there. This palette is top of the list for beauty items you need in 2021.

FM Pure Perfume in 413.

Okay, so you don’t specifically have to have scent 413, but for me, this scent is the bees knees. It’s become my everyday go-to scent and is such a beautiful fruity scent with headnotes of blackcurrant and pear and base notes of vanilla, patchouli and chocolate pralines. It’s comparable to Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle and at just £16.90 is a fraction of the price. FM are an amazing cruelty free company that produce a plethora of products from designer inspired perfume to reed diffusers (which are incredible), makeup and even cleaning products (not a beauty product – but their Fireplace Glass and Oven cleaner is a whole new level of amazing on then cleaning front!).

The FM perfumes have taken over my designer favourites and with the price so affordable, I’ll definitely be getting myself a few more in the coming months. I already have Pure Royal 827 which is like Marc Jacobs Daisy and at just £26.50 you really cannot go wrong!

I’m now an FM Distributor so if there was anything you’d like to try, or if you’d like access to exclusivities discounts and giveaways please do join my Facebook page!

fm perfumesmark hill mermaid waver

Mark Hill mermaid waver.

This is more of a beauty tool than a beauty product, but still fitting the theme of beauty items you need to bag yourself for 2021, this attachment is my favourite new hair styling tool. If you’re new to the blog / Mark Hill in general, the Pick’N’Mix styler has been a favourite of mine for years now. It’s an ingenious little tool that saves £££ on buying the new fandangled hair styler every time. Instead, you buy one handle, and then just buy the hair styling attachment of choice to add to the top. I have a couple now which really helps when I cannot decide on how to style my hair and having them all as attachments for one single hair styler, makes them all so much easier to store. The Mermaid Waver is my newest addition and the one I love the most. It makes styling my hair super simple and gives effortless waves with minimal effort. This attachment was just £16.99 – which is a massive saving compared to the Beauty Works Molly Mae Waver which is around the £80 mark I believe.

FM Legendary Full HD Lashes Mascara.

A good mascara is something I’ve not treated myself to in a while. I think whilst there was a lack of enthusiasm for wearing makeup or taking much pride in what I was doing, I often opted for the cheaper brands and stayed away from treating myself to luxury favourites that I knew were of a much better quality. Don’t get me wrong, the Body Shop Lash Hero mascara I was using over the past few months was OK, but when I started using the Legendary Full HD Lashes mascara from FM, it totally put all the others to shame. I honestly think it’s comparable to YSL’s Babydoll mascara and at just £15, it’s a lot more affordable (try almost half the price) of the designer ones out there.

The thick bristles allow for the perfect distribution of mascara with no fear of clumps and lifts the lashes in to a perfect shape for maximum impact. Unfortunately, it’s not waterproof, but being caught out in the English rain or crying during the more emotional times of the months and this mascara has definitely held its own pretty well. Sadly, this mascara is out of stock at the moment, but keep checking back or contact me to put it on back-order for you and you should have it in your grasp in no time!

The Body Shop CBD Replenishing Moisture Cream

This one has been a favourite since it was released at the tail end of last year, however it’s only recently that I’ve started using it again and fallen in love all over again. I bought this CBD moisturiser when I was a rep for the company’s ‘at home’ sales team and honestly bought it just because it was new, but the more I’ve used it, the more I fall in love. The smallest amount of this moisturiser goes a really long way and it instantly re-nourishes your skin with how fast-absorbing it is. For an oil-based moisturiser it also doesn’t leave your skin feeling mega oily; it sinks deep into your skin within a few seconds and leaves your skin perfectly hydrated and matte within just a few minutes. One thing I have noticed, quite comically, is that if I exercise a few hours after applying this, it literally smells like weed is pouring from my pores, but other than that there isn’t an over-powering scent. In fact, the original fragrance of the moisturiser is really earthy and subtle – which is really nice. Overall I think this CBD replenishing Moisture cream is a new staple in my skincare routine and has quite surprisingly overtaken the Body Shop Drops of Youth Youth Cream as my fave!
