Before I was contacted by Leesa I didn’t even think that I needed a new mattress. I think in my head I knew that you should change it every 8-10 years or so but to me, a mattress is an ‘adult’ purchase and because (regardless of the fact that I have a baby) I don’t consider myself as a fully fledged adult just yet, a mattress has never been on my ‘to buy’ list. And I mean, I already had one; That’s good enough for me. Since I’ve been sleeping on my new Leesa Mattress though I’ve definitely realised how much my old mattress really needed an upgrade!
When my Leesa mattress arrived I was surprised at just how small the box was; having grown up seeing my parents buying a new mattress and struggling to get the thing up the stairs, having a box delivered seemed so much easier. As you can see from the image below the instructions on how to set up your Leesa mattress are super easy and even though there’s some heftiness to the thing, little ol’ me managed to do it all by herself! – I mean, I didn’t get it up the stairs on my own because yes I lift (you can find my fitness posts here), but no, I’m not the Hulk, but the unboxing was allllll me!
Unboxing, unwrapping and positioning the mattress was so much easier than I thought it would be and within 5 minutes of it being out of the box and on my bed it had pretty much fully expanded. Unlike other mattresses like this that I’ve seen, it also only takes an hour for it to fully ‘be ready’ and is apparently at its comfiest within two days…
Now. I’m going to tell you this next part because I’m all about the honest review and honestly after the first night of sleeping on this I hugely regretted accepting this collaboration with Leesa Mattress. I hated it. I had the worst nights sleep ever and to me, the mattress was so hard and felt like I was sleeping on a plank of wood. Not good. Steve absolutely loved it though and was as overjoyed as the male species can be when it’s something other than football. Meaning that I got a ‘yeah it’s good’ response from him when I asked how he’d slept. I have always been a spring mattress kind of girl and I think my body just needed a little bit of time to adjust to the mattress first. The second night of sleeping on it was like a little slice of heaven and I had the best nights sleep I’ve probably had since Madison was born. That first night 100% must of been a fluke and had something to do with my brain thinking I don’t like any other mattress than the one I’ve had for a million years!
It’s been around a month now since Steve and I first slept on our new Leesa mattress and we are already thinking about getting one for Madison when she’s in a proper ‘big girls’ bed. They are super comfy and really mould to you which is something I’ve never had with a mattress before. Even with how ridiculously hot it’s been here in the UK recently, Steve and I have both slept really well thanks to the amazing airflow in the 5cm layer of Cooling Avena foam on the top of the mattress. I honestly can’t explain how happy I am to have this mattress in my life.
I don’t know if it can be linked or not, but I’ve always struggled with settling to sleep quickly and since having the Leesa mattress in my life it’s something that I’ve not noticed as much. My head hits the pillow and then the next thing I know I’m being woken up by Madison crying to let me know she’s awake and that’s something I’ve never really had before. I don’t know if I can say that that’s all down to the mattress or if it’s just how tired I am having to run around after Madison all the time, but a combination of the two means I’ve been having the best nights sleep I think I’ve ever had and I am all here for it!
The Leesa mattress is made up of 3 layers of foam; the Cooling Avena foam (mentioned above), the 5cm layer of Pressure relieving memory foam (the one that moulds effortlessly to your body for an incredible night sleep) and the 15cm Dense Core support which gives the mattress strength, durability and structure! It’s by far the best mattress I’ve ever tried and even my parents have decided to get one now! With a 100 night risk-free trial too you’d be silly to not at least give a Leesa mattress a go!
Mattresses are super expensive so it’s understandable as to why everyone’s so reluctant to buy a new one, but if you’re in the market for a new mattress anytime soon they you should definitely check out Leesa. They even donate one mattress for every 10 that they sell which is just another amazing reason to choose a Leesa mattress over any other.
The Leesa mattress comes in 8 different sizing options and you can save £100 with code BEKYLOU just for being one of my lovely readers!
