Teeth Whitening is always something that I’ve been interested in but when it comes to actually committing to something and starting a teeth whitening course I’ve just never been bothered to be honest. I’ve said this many a time before on my blog but I am such a lazy person when it comes to beauty. I’d love to be the kind of person who could get my nails done regularly, style my hair everyday, wear makeup more than once a week (hi mum life) and be bothered to whiten my teeth but I’m really just more of a sit and scroll on my phone 24 hours a day kinda girl (or rewatch the Vampire Diaries for the second time), which leaves 0 time for preening.
Seeing all of these gorgeous mamas and ladies on Instagram though (no matter how staged I know it is) makes me want to step it up a gear and along with gelling my nails weekly again, teeth whitening is one of my number one priorities. The Whitewash Laboratories Nano Intensive Teeth Whitening Strips have been my go-to over the past couple of weeks and at first I was so sceptical. I’ve never been good at routine but for white teeth I was determined to stick to the 1 hour a day application for two weeks.
I applied my first two strips one evening before bed after brushing my teeth as instructed and within seconds I regretted agreeing to the collaboration. I hated the feel of the strips against my teeth, the taste of the ‘minty’ gel on my tongue and the feeling that I couldn’t sit comfortably or normally for the next hour. They felt super unnatural and I was really struggling to think of how I was going to complete the two week course. And then all of a sudden the hour had passed and I hadn’t even realised. The two week course finished way sooner than I thought it would and even though I did miss a day once or twice because that mama life just couldn’t help but get in the way, at the end of it all I’ve been pretty impressed.
The pack comes with 28 strips, 14 top and 14 bottom all packed in individual packets for each day. The bottom strip is a little shorter than the top one and although designed only to target your front teeth (you know, the ones on show) for me, the strips came up a little short for when I smiled. I also had to fold over the strips once they were on my teeth to be able to close my mouth and so I think the backs of my teeth were whitened too! Apart from those two little things though (which in the scheme of things really don’t matter) the whitening strips worked really well to rid me of the horrible staining I had and made them look much brighter and whiter. In between using the strips for the two week period I also switched my toothpaste to the Nano Whitening toothpaste and the combination really made a difference to my teeth’s appearance.
For a girl who hated the idea of a laborious two weeks whitening course at first, it went surprisingly quick – the strips worked their magic without leaving my teeth sensitive at all (something else I’ve always been concerned about with whitening strips) and I’ve gained more confidence for completing the course. Having slightly discoloured or yellow teeth is never a good look and although mine weren’t that bad as I don’t smoke or drink coffee, having them brighter and whiter within the space of two short weeks has made me feel so good about them. I actually started noticing a difference from just 3-4 days in and would definitely recommend these from Whitewash Laboratories if you’re looking for something yourself!
