Dressing for my body type now that I’m not a size 8 anymore has been a bit of a stressful task for me over the past few months. I’ve always been a size 8-10 and having gone through pregnancy and the aftermath my body has changed so much that I’m just not happy with knowing how to dress it anymore especially when it comes to the crop tops and short shorts that come with summer fashion. Of course, I know you can be beautiful at any size, and I do feel good about myself sometimes (especially with how I am making progress with losing the pregnancy weight – you can read more about my post natal fitness journey) but with my body being so vastly different to what it was before I became pregnant, I’ve been really struggling with how to dress and feel good about myself. As I mentioned in my Fitness Diaries: March Update post I have this crazy perception of myself that I don’t look good unless I have washboard abs and a perky bum and when dressing my lumps and bumps, that’s all I seem to be able to think about.
As I’ve lost a few inches recently though I’ve started to feel a little more comfortable in what I’ve been wearing and since I’m currently in Cyprus sunning it up, I thought I’d write a little fashion post on what I’m wearing whilst I’m here. I’m also going to throw in a cheeky summer fashion wish list because a girl can never have enough clothes! Although I’m more determined to get my abs back and get back into my size 8s than ever, I know it’s going to take a while longer and whilst I don’t want to stay the size I am now forever, I’m certainly going to start loving it a bit more so I can enjoy my Summer and the fashion that comes with it!
The first couple of pieces that I’ve been feeling amazing in and can’t wait to wear this week (with no worries of the weather) have been from Tobi, an American brand that ship to the UK with no customs! Yep, you’ve heard me right they sort the customs for you so that it’s only the delivery to pay – oh wait, that’s free too!! Tobi have some amazing pieces and these are just 3 of my faves!
This Rose off the shoulder top is bloomin gorgeous and even though I’m bloody roasting in the jeans (it’s a little windy today so I thought I better be cautious and it was the wrong decision) I really love the look of this outfit! Call me strange, but sandals like these Kurt Geiger ones and a pair of jeans are just my fave combination in the summer! Unfortunately the look is a little ruined because I forgot to bring a strapless bra over with me so I’ve got my Jack Wills halter crop underneath to support the post-preggo boobs, but regardless I’m still loving this Tobi off-the-shoulder number so much! The colour is absolutely beautiful and the two-tiered sleeve effect is a really nice addition to a simple summer fashion staple. I can see this being a big piece for my wardrobe this summer and one that’s worn quite a bit!
This Mia peachy low-back day dress is a beach favourite of mine and it’s been so easy to wear here in the sun as it’s such an easy piece to throw on. Over a bikini or just on its own it’s the perfect summer fashion piece because it’s just a great little throw on dress – especially for the heat! Again with my favourite KG sandals (which I really think will break on this trip and I’m so sad) this dress is so cute and one I’m really going to love wearing out here. As much as I love it though I don’t think this one is appropriate for me in the UK!
Last of my mini haul from Tobi is this amazing Marisa off-the-shoulder dress which I have to say is probably my favourite dress of the whole summer fashion shop / wish list. Although my pale as anything skin probably looks a bit ridiculous against the black, the contrast in the colours of the black and red make this so pretty in my eyes. Again, I forgot to bring a strapless bra with me so I’ve gone a bit free-for-all in this one (not easy with post-preggo boobs I must admit) but I still really like the way this looks on me. The sleeves are really unique in the way they’re attached which I really like as the whole thing doesn’t keep slipping up like most other off-the-shoulder tops do (which is the bane of my bloody life). It’s another dress that’s really easy to slip on and makes such a simple yet lovely outfit for the day.
As for my wish list, I have to admit there’s quite a lot that I really would like to get. I’m a massive shopaholic at heart and for me to not be able to spend on myself as I’d like (believe me I do find ways to spend on Madison now instead of me) it does end up with me having pretty humongous wish lists by the end of each month. So, with the visuals of a good ol’ collage, I thought I’d give you a round up of the pieces I’m most lusting on right now!
First up are two pieces from the River Island Swim & Beachwear range which I really wish I had with me for this holiday! The Pineapple Bardot crop is an absolute fave of mine and with jeans or a black maxi skirt I can see this being such a fun summer fashion piece to wear. I love the vibrancy and how summery it is! I am also obsessed with the Orange Beach Playsuit which is also really fun and colourful and since I love wearing colour in the Summer, it’d be the perfect cover up for beach days! The Denim Mom shorts are from Zara and look big and baggy enough to look stylish but for me to also not be super self conscious about how my thighs look in the – I’ve been saving them in my online basket for ages now and think it’s about time I actually go and try them on.
The Disney X Cath Kidston Mickey backpack is an item I’ve been lusting over forever – it’s now £80 in the sale and still a bit out of my reach price wise, but I just can’t stop thinking about how beautiful it is. The perfect backpack for family days out and not to mention perfect for the next time I get back to Disney World! The baby pink TOMS have been on my wish list forever too and now that I’m in Cyprus, I’m thinking of picking myself up a pair. They just seem like they’d be the perfect shoes to slip on and would just go with any outfit! Last but not least is this gorgeous pair of round sunglasses from Topshop; not my usual style (and not to mention they probably won’t fit my massive round head) but this style of sunnies have been on my wish list for the last year at least. I’m definitely going to be picking up a pair soon to see if they suit me or not.
I also have a plethora of summer fashion items saved in my online basked on Tobi.com and with free shipping & no customs, I’m almost certain I’ll be making a purchase soon! I’ve been so impressed with their pieces and moreso with the quality which has been amazing considering the price of some things! You can shop the New In section to see what I’m on about!
