The Perfect Valentine’s Day Night In

The perfect Valentine’s Day night in is always one where you’re snuggled at home watching movies and scoffing down comfort food. This year, we’re not only opting for a Valentine’s night in because we hate the idea of going out and conforming to the idea of outdoing everyone else, but because we have a beautiful 5 month old baby girl who we both love just as much as each other (if not more). Cuddling up just the three of us and watching one of our favourite films together (let’s face it, it’s probably going to be Moana) sounds like the perfect night and whilst others may celebrate Valentine’s whole-heartedly, Steve and I prefer to get each other a soppy card and just chill out at home.

Valentine's Day

I always used to be a sucker for Valentine’s Day but once Steve and I got together I realised I didn’t need one specific expensive day to show him how much I love him. It sounds soppy but we tell each other every day that we love each other and when it comes to Valentine’s Day the only thing we really do is get each other a card that we can then keep forever. I’m a sentimental person and something that I can keep means way more to me than an expensive evening out wining and dining!

When it comes to gifts we also don’t usually bother; saving for a house and treating our baby girl seems a way better use of our money at the moment but this year we wanted something special that would commemorate our first Valentine’s Day since having Madison. The Kate Spade Going Places photo frame was the perfect piece and although I’ve just popped my favourite picture of Steve and Madison into it for now, we’re going to make sure there’s a family portrait in there soon. I don’t know why but when I saw that this said ‘Going Places’ I just thought this was the most perfect gift to ourselves for a family picture; it’s the start of our family adventure and the most gorgeous item to capture our first year as a family.

Valentine's Day Valentine's Day Valentine's Day

Of course, a Valentine’s night in wouldn’t be complete without the snacks and beverages and for this we were very kindly sent a batch of Pink Pepper Kitchen brownies to test out. What’s better than brownies on Valentine’s Day? Although honestly after writing this post they haven’t even made it to Valentine’s Day! Yep – we’ve scoffed the lot already! An indulgent treat like this is perfect for a cosy, romantic night in and although Madison isn’t allowed chocolate just yet, I know she’d love these as much as we do! Pink Pepper Kitchen is a homely brand which is based on three generations of bakers and now they’ve opened up their kitchen to the wider market, posting out their delicious homemade brownies in cute tins ready for any occasion. The brownies are absolutely beautiful and being a massive brownie fiend, I happen to know what I’m on about! They’re gorgeously rich and chocolatey with a vanilla /nutty undertone and they even have bloody edible glitter on them!! For just £15 you get the most incredible slab of brownie perfectly presented in a gorgeous keepsake tin of your choice. It’s the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day or any other ocassion you can think of and whilst others may prefer to send flowers, my new choice of gift will always be these brownies. Pink Pepper Kitchen’s Double Chocolate Brownie is also available Gluten-Free or Vegan, so it’s perfect for everyone!

What will you be doing this Valentine’s Day? Is wining and dining your thing or will it be a snuggle date night in for you too? Also, I’d love to know if you and your partner go all out with gifts or if it’s the sentiments that you love.

What a lovely frame for such a great pic. I’m the same – we don’t spend on Valentine’s Gifts, so something like this is great x

The frame is gorgeous! We don’t go out for a meal on Valentine’s Day because it feels too forced! We exchange cards and Hubby usually buys me flowers and I either cook or we get a takeaway. Those brownes look aboslutely delicious! xx
