Over the festive period I have to admit that I probably only wore makeup twice. Since giving birth to Madison, even since being around seven months pregnant with her, I stopped wearing makeup on a daily basis and switched to the eau natural look. Makeup is something I love to wear and play around with but when it’s just you and your baby at home, what’s really the point? To be honest I’d love to say it’s because I’m saving my skin, but hey, a girl’s gotta save those pennies and wearing makeup to stay in all day is just a waste! On the couple of odd occasions that I did apply my makeup though, I opted for my new Fenty Beauty makeup brushes instead of my beloved Beauty Blender (shock horror) and you know what? I bloody well loved them!
The brushes in themselves are gorgeous, as are all of the products in the Fenty Beauty line; the dusty pink/nude handle, chrome detailing and pale pink bristles are all incredibly insta-worthy and delicately beautiful that it makes them difficult to want to use. I think I even stared at them for a week before plucking up the courage to try them! The Full Bodied Foundation brush is definitely full bodied and with it’s medium-full density bristles it really does work well to provide a seamless coverage. Designed Specifically for the Pro Filt’r Foundation this brush works effortlessly to blend the foundation into your skin and smooth out any imperfections giving it an air-brushed feel and look. I’ve been very impressed with how it has ridden my face of any dry patches when this foundation has been applied and how easily it’s buffed the product in. I’m not usually a brush fan when it comes to applying foundation and for this one to have taken pride of place in my brush pot, it’s quite a big statement. I have to say it’s not the greatest when it comes to foundations on the thicker end of the spectrum, but for your thinner/medium viscosity bases this brush has 100% got you covered. At £26 it’s not the cheapest of brushes but honestly for a brush to impress me this much, I have to say I think it’s worth splashing out on; it works incredibly well with the Fenty Beauty foundation and for a tool I would never usually choose to use, it’s really got me smitten. The Cheek Hugging Highlight Brush also from the Fenty Beauty original launch is also a new firm favourite in my collection. Of course, as the name states it has been great for dusting on that glow but I’ve been using it for chiselling my cheek bones with my FB Match Stix Contour and I am no less than in love. As it’s name suggests this brush is designed at such a curved angle that it perfectly hugs the contours of your cheeks and with a slick of cream contour in place this brush buffs and blends so well that it looks nothing but natural. I’ll even go as far as saying that this is the most natural looking finish I’ve ever had to my contour. I am that obsessed with this brush. Even for working my contour around my temples and jawline this brush just fits so perfectly. The bristles are so soft and flexible that blending really isn’t much of an issue, it expertly hugs my face to move the product around and leaves it looking flawless. If you haven’t already set your eyes on this or given it a go then you definitely need to. I don’t even feel like I need to justify it any more than that: this brush is incredible.
The Fenty Beauty Highlighting Match Stix are nothing short of incredible. They’re brilliantly pigmented, easily swipe across the skin for application and have a great shimmer pay off. I now have two and even between the different shades, there isn’t much of a difference at all in quality (like you sadly can get with some brands). The wondrous unicorn-esque glow of the highlighter shown above is Confetti; the newest highlight to my collection and by far my favourite. The pearlescent lavender sheen of this product is bloomin’ gorgeous and either on its own or with a translucent / icy highlighting powder dusted lightly on top it’s definitely a favourite for an extra WOW glow. I absolutely love that Rhiana’s included products like this in her range because for a pale girl like me, a shine like this is just what I want sometimes and definitely differentiates my everyday look from Starstruck which has more of a champagne colouring. For a night out or a more glam look for an event or special occasion confetti is the perfect highlight and although it’s not an every-day wearable shade for me, isn’t it just bloody beautiful?! I mean, who doesn’t want to occasionally shine like a Unicorn?! I’d highly recommend the Match Stix Shimmer Skinsticks and you can pick them up here.
