The Current Winter Skincare Routine

The current winter skincare routine is one that I’m pretty happy with; having tried and tested so many products and having had so many different experiences with all of them, I feel like it’s taken me quite some time to get to the perfect skincare combination. Of course, when the seasons change, I’ll be back at square one but to have my winter skincare routine set out so early on in the season, I’m pretty darn happy!

My winter skincare routine starts with the Clinique take the day off cleansing balm which is quite new to my routine and is probably up their with my top 5 makeup removers now. I love how it’s a solid balm to oil kind of product with the most luxurious feel ever; it melts off my makeup in mere seconds and removed with a hot muslin cloth it gives a gorgeous fresh feel and look to my skin.

I then do a second cleanse which is mega important to my winter skincare routine or any skincare routine that I have to be honest because double cleanse is life and for this I use the L’Occitane Precious Cleansing Foam. This is the most gentle foam cleanser I have ever tried and yet still makes my skin feel so revived and fresh. It’s one of the first ever products I’ve tried from L’Occitane and I’ve been so impressed. I sometimes mix this up with a few more intense products when I have extra blemish-y skin but I currently always come back to this cleanser.

The 3rd step in my winter skincare routine is a quick sweep over with the Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Gentle Pads for sensitive skin which again are a new addition to my beauty stash. I’ve heard so much about them in the past and I thought sod it a few weeks ago and finally purchased them and haven’t looked back since. I went for the gentle pads because a) they were cheaper (not even sorry) and b) my skin needs a soft introduction to glycolic acid I feel. I’ve definitely been seeing an improvement in my skin from using these and my skin always looks more radiant now and feels like I have less dead skin drying up my face.

Step number 4 is my ever favourite Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate which is most definitely up there in my top 3 when it comes to skincare. I definitely notice a difference when I forget to use it of an evening and especially when I have any small blemishes wanting to make an appearance as it always seems to nip them in the bud. It nourishes my skin and gives me a lovely natural radiance too. In fact I always seem to feel better about my skin in the morning and more confident to go about makeup free when I’ve used this the night before!

The most important step for me in my any of my skincare routines, let alone my winter skincare routine is my spot treatment. The Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Spot Treatment is a magical gel which targets spots and minimises them almost instantly. I could have the biggest spot known to man on my face and guarantee this will almost halve it by the next morning. I genuinely think I would be lost without this product.

The last two products in my winter skincare routine are all about the moisture and as winter is a known bastard for sucking the life out of your skin, these two are my favourites for this time of year. Having just had a baby my Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream is a must have for every evening; it’s gorgeously moisturising and rehydrating and has rid me of my dark under eye circles more times than I can count. It also partners really well with my fave Clarins Multi Active cream which is the saviour to all of my dry skin issues. The night time version of this cream is actually even better but since I’ve ran out of that one, I’ve replaced it with my day cream at the moment and it works just as well! I also use this in the morning to pep up my skin before the day ahead!

All of these products work simultaneously to keep my skin hydrated and refreshed for the harsh winter weather we have here in England and without any one of them I actually really struggle to find a great balance with my face. They all play such a pivotal part in keeping my skin feeling beautiful and I honestly reccommend all of them if you’re looking for something to keep your skin perfect throughout the winter. I’d love to know your recommendations too, I’m already looking ahead to my skincare routine for spring!

I love the clinique take the day off balm, it is such a staple in my routine now, not sure if I would want to use anything else now! I need to try the Keihls midnight recovery concentrate though, I feel like I am the only person who hasn’t tried it yet!

Winter skincare is actually one of my favourites because there’s so much dewiness I need to put back into my skin and that means using all of my favourite serums! I love the Clinique cleansers xx
