If you don’t know what Black Friday is then you’ve obviously just been resurrected or something because for the last few years the American tradition has been brought over to the UK and it is by far one of the best retailing days of the year. Of course, us Brits don’t do it quite at well as the American’s and it’s not quite as crazy (thank god) but for the majority you can still find some pretty decent bargains online and in store. This year L’Occitane have decided to start their Black Friday deals a day early and will launch their ‘Yellow’ Friday discounts as of today (Thursday 23rd November) for 20% off their best sellers and full price items.
Having only recently been introduced to more products from L’Occitane (other than just their amazing Shea hand cream) I thought that I’d use this blog post to share some of my first impressions and initial thoughts on a few bits I’ve kindly been sent recently by the brand. Of course, these bits will be popping up again on the blog soon (with full reviews) but with such amazing discounts just around the corner, I couldn’t leave them un-mentioned! The Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Face Cream was the first item that caught my eye on the L’Occitane Best Sellers page and with Black Friday Deals taking this beauty down to just £28.80 (from £36) it was something I knew I had to tell you guys about. First thing I have to say is that this has a gorgeous consistency to it; it has an almost whipped, creamy texture which I absolutely love and melts into the skin really well. I don’t know whether my skin was just extra dry when I put this on or not, but it literally just drank it up! My face felt really smooth and velvety after applying this and although I applied this rather lovingly (i.e. more than I should have – oops!) it didn’t leave a sticky residue or leave my skin feeling oily. I felt my skin looked more illuminated and fresher than it had previously and although I applied this at night after my cleanser (noted below) the Pivoine Perfecting cream left me looking as if I’d just woken up (and in a good way not an Anna from Frozen, drool out of the mouth kinda way). I’ve instantly really liked this moisturiser and so far only have good things to say about it; I will definitely keep you updated over the coming weeks to see if I still feel the same!
Cleansers are something we all know we need to change up every once and a while and with me loving exfoliating cleansers and my Magnitone Barefaced cleansing brush I never really give my skin that much of a break. Thinking about it now, I’m probably a bit too harsh on my skin when it comes to my skincare and although it’s working for me, every now and again it’s nice to change things round and introduce something a little kinder. For now, that item is the L’Occitane Precious Foaming Cleanser and on first impressions I’m pretty happy with it. Having never really tried a foaming cleanser before (or that I can remember) it was a bit of a strange feeling applying it to my skin; but honestly this is the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to describe to you so I won’t put you through that! As far as first impressions go for a cleanser this one is pretty nice; it hasn’t wowed me as of yet, but my skin feels fresh, clean and most importantly not dry! Enriched with organic immortelle flower water this cleanser reveals a more youthful appearance to the skin and gives a soft radiance to your appearance; it’s one of the kindest cleansers I’ve tried on my skin in quite some time and again, I’m really excited to keep using this and see how it helps my blemishes stay away! You can buy the Precious Foaming Cleanser for £17.80 in the Black Friday deals.
Shampoo is always a hit or miss item for me; yes, I have a couple of favourites and a few that really do not work for me but continually using the same old shampoos does seem to be having an effect on my hair also. Just as our skin does, our hair can also get used to the same kind of product if used over and over and with having not tried a new shampoo in quite some time and with my hair starting it’s post-pregnancy malt, it was about time I used something to repair it. The repairing shampoo from L’Occitane was actually something that I’ve wanted to try for quite some time; having heard such great things and being in desperate need of a hair overhaul I couldn’t wait to get my hair washed yesterday morning! The repairing shampoo is for dry and damaged hair and with their anti-breakage complex, plant derived amino acids that revitalise and strengthen and added B5 to help smooth and protect this sounded like the perfect product for me. From the first wash alone my hair feels a hell of a lot healthier. I know it won’t be easy to tell how much work it’s doing from just one wash but I do already feel like it’s on it’s way back to being how it used to be and after having a baby I feel like it’s the best thing for my hair right now. Apparently results can be seen with this within just four weeks so I shall keep going and let you know how I get on shortly, but for now, you can pick up the repairing shampoo from L’Occitane for just £14.40 in the black friday deals.
L’Occitane’s ‘Yellow Friday’ starts today (Thursday 23rd) through to Sunday 26th November and includes 20% off Best Sellers and all full price items (non inclusive of Advent Calendars and Gift Sets).
