The £8.99 drugstore foundation that stole my heart

When applying my makeup, whether it be for a fancy event or an everyday mum look there is always one thing I can count on to ensure I’m looking and feeling my best; Foundation. It’s the one product that I know without fail will always make me feel good and will always make me feel like I’m having a good skin day. Obviously not any old foundation will do this though and for that sometimes the hefty price tag that comes along with them is worth it.  It’s one of the products that I will really invest in if I need to because I know that if my foundation is killing it, then the rest of my face will be too and a good mood thrown in is always worth the pennies! For a good foundation I’ve been known to spend around £34 in order to create the perfect base for my makeup and although there are some drugstore foundation out there that have rave reviews for a cheaper price, I’ve never found one that I’ve loved enough to choose it over my beloved high end ones. That was until recently…

The Sleek Lifeproof foundation is one that I was recently sent to try out for review and having had issues and not much success with cheaper foundations in the past I put it to the side for a while before giving it much thought. I’m willing to try anything out for the blog though and being a huge fan of Sleek for so many other of their makeup products I decided to give it a go. The saying “you should never judge a book by it’s cover” is so true in most circumstances but in this case, it’s definitely worth it’s weight in gold! As far as a drugstore foundation goes this baby has to be my all time favourite and is one that I think a lot of you should definitely head out and try. As a medium to full coverage foundation this is right up my street and although you can’t always rely on that kind of description with a drugstore foundation, in this instance it is pretty accurate.

Sleek’s Lifeproof foundation has a beautiful consistency which is not too thick and gloopy but also not too runny and with a medium to full coverage, it’s a nice change from most others that it’s not overly stodgy. Applied with either a stippling brush or Beauty Blender this foundation evenly applies and builds up nicely to create the coverage of your choice and with the addition of a concealer over any blemishes, it’s had me covered nicely all day. For a drugstore foundation Sleek have definitely hit all of the nails on the head with this one and have really impressed me with their ‘lifeproof’ foundation. I can’t exactly say whether or not this foundation is life proof but so far it’s certainly proved to be baby proof and although dewy (which is just what I like in a foundation finish) it doesn’t transfer easily – perfect!

Foundation is a very important part of my daily makeup routine (as expected) and as I’m willing to spend quite a bit to get it right as far as my base is concerned having to only spend £8.99 is quite unnerving. It sounds ridiculous but it almost doesn’t make sense that I love something so much cheaper when in the past I’ve not been able to ever find something that does the job for less than the high end prices. I love this Sleek Lifeproof foundation and will definitely be giving another chance to the infamous drugstore foundation market in the future to see if I can find another gem like this for less!

I really love other products from Sleek; I swear by their eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow palettes and highlighters. Like you, I’ve been dubious about trying cheaper foundations, but I might just give this one a go!! Thank you xx
