Kat Von D First Impressions; Shade & Light Palette, Everlasting Liquid Lips

When I visited America earlier this year I was given a list as long as my arm of Kat Von D beauty items to pick up for a couple of my friends (but lets be honest it was mainly from Melody) but for some reason, I didn’t pick anything up for myself. After hearing such great things from Melody since, I’ve been regretting not getting anything for myself to try out whilst I was there and with Kat Von D not being available in the UK, it wasn’t easy for me to just pop out and rectify my mistake. As you can imagine, as soon as Kat Von D was announced as becoming available in the UK, I was super excited and on my first trip to London since it launched, I obviously had to pop in to Debenhams and pick up a couple of bits!

First on my hit list was the Shade and Light Contouring palette. Ever since I bought this for Melody in Florida, she’s done nothing but bang on about how amazing it is and being as easily persuaded as I am to buy things that are ‘just incredible’ I had to buy it. I also picked up one of her Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks in ‘Bow and Arrow’ as its such a lovely deep nude shade and I have been all about those ‘Dolce K’ kind of shades for the last couple of weeks. We then went away to a meeting with a brand that I had scheduled and before an evening party with Sleek Makeup, we may have had to pop back to Debenhams just to have another cheeky look! And then of course I had to pick up two more Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks in the shades Lolita (which I was surprised they had in stock) and also Exorcism because Melody had bought it earlier in the day and I couldn’t resist it either by the time I’d seen her apply it!

The Kat Von D Shade and Light palette has three contour shades and 3 setting shades / what I like to call ‘banana’ powders and my god, it is beautiful. The lightest contour shade is the best for me and occasionally I use the middle shade to contour around my temples, but the darker shade is definitely far too dark and warm for me so I doubt that one will get much use. As far as the setting powders go, the banana shade is definitely my favourite and I love popping this under my eyes after applying my Urban Decay Naked Concealer as it just keeps that boy in place all day and doesn’t go cakey under my eyes at all! For a girl that has always struggled to find the perfect contour shades for my pale complexion (I’m talking casper the ghost / mona the vampire type affair here), the Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette is definitely my new holy grail for chiselling out my cheekbones and giving my face a little more shape and definition.

As for the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, I am a little in love. As I mentioned above, I only intended on buying Bow and Arrow as its a perfect nude shade but after applying it midway through the afternoon and seeing how amazingly it applied and just how incredible it was overall, of course I had to go back and get a couple more. As liquid lipsticks go, the consistency of these are beautiful; so creamy and they dry nicely with a lovely matte finish. However the thing that I love the most about these liquid lipsticks is the packaging and applicator. Obviously, all of Kat Von D’s products are beautifully packaged but these are just next level and the doe foot applicator is actually perfect for applying liquid lipstick evenly to your lips. I’ve tried a lot of liquid lipsticks over the past couple of months from MAC, Kylie Cosmetics, The Body Shop, NYX and more but none of them have wands like these Kat Von D ones. The extra little bit of length on the wand, with the shorter handle and perfectly shaped doe foot applicator just make this so easy to apply. I don’t really know how to describe this in a way that many people will probably understand but if you’re a girl who loves a liquid lip like me then I’m hoping you know exactly what I mean when I say that these are just an absolute dream to apply.
